I never thought I would be one of those women who loves getting new kitchen stuff.
Growing up I was determined to be different from my mom who was a stay at home mom and enjoyed cooking. I was determined to get away, live a more sophisticated life.
And then life happened and overprotected rebellious me met real life. Suddenly I was a single mom having gotten out of an abusive marriage at 19 and while I grew up quickly then, I worked like crazy and cooked because it was necessity, not because I wanted to. Although I have always enjoyed baking.
I eventually married the love of my life and moved to Canada, and my MIL who lived with us loved to cook. Yay! I didn’t often have to. I stayed busy driving school bus and doing expedited work in between and keeping my husband’s books.
We moved to North Carolina and suddenly all the cooking was on me, except in the winter when my MIL came down and stayed for 2 months. Again, it was a necessity and I did it but didn’t enjoy it.
Fast forward 30+ years and I find myself enjoying cooking. Embracing the challenge of multiple dietary needs with keeping meals in budget.
But time has also changed me physically, so today I am celebrating the purchase of a new electric can opener to replace the manual one these arthritic hands struggle with.

And the purchase of a high quality frying pan.

I have become a women who celebrates new kitchen gadgets!
And it’s okay. Actually it’s all good!
I LOVE new kitchen stuff!!!
