Intentional

So, continuing on with yesterday’s post about the winter doldrums, I had set both an intention phrase and a resolution this year. I normally don’t do resolutions as I seem to quickly fall off that wagon. And this year I both forgot my intention phrase and fell off the resolution wagon in that first week of doldrums and stress.

But the thing about is, it’s a year long intention and resolution, so if I fall off, I just need to get back up, dust myself off and move on. Notice I didn’t say “try again” but move on?

And one thing I didn’t share was either my intention phrase for the year, nor my resolution. So let’s talk

My intention phrase, as it’s two words not one, for the year is “self-care”. Hmmm I needed to remember that last week!

My resolution “to stitch, knit, or sew on something every day”. Yeah, I needed to remember that two.

These both kind of go hand in hand into a “do something good for me every day”. And while that may sound like it leans toward selfish, those that know me know that I have inherited my mother’s trait of doing for others first always. A trait that I despised as a kid when I saw her always putting herself last, and yet I tend to follow. Not to say that I always put myself first, more that there has to be a balance between self care and giving. And this year I intend to be more balanced.

Will I succeed, only if I develop new habits that put me as priority at times. One new habit I hope to fully develop is to get out and take some exercise classes at the senior center and parks and rec. Classes dedicated to people in my age category and physical limitations (yes, I’m not 30 anymore even if my mind thinks I am,).

So wish me luck! If you’re local and want to know where and when as I’m doing this on a budget, message me.

Here’s to a healthier future!

  1. My word of the year last year was Self-Care 🙂 I love that it’s yours for 2024. Is there a local senior center near you? Sometimes they have gentle exercise classes and they could be free or only a nominal fee.

    1. There is. I need to go into town and get their calendar to find out what and when. Plus I joined the local rec center for Silver Sneaker classes twice a week.
